Bosnian Cultural Centre in Finland
History
BKC, the Bosnian Cultural Centre in Finland, was founded in Turku in 2002. Between 2004 and 2009 all Bosnian organisations in Finland suspended their work, BKC included. The focus in that period was on return and the post-war reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as on housing, education and employment in Finland.
BKC was restarted in 2009 and has been active ever since. In the Turku region it is recognised as one of the best-organised immigrant associations. Over the years BKC has continuously expanded its activities, guided by the concrete needs of its members and the community. BKC started joint meetings with other Bosnian organisations in the Turku region to improve cooperation, agree on joint activities and strengthen the Bosnian community in Finland.
